Missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have a strong belief in Jesus Christ and want to help other people build their faith. To do this, they devote themselves for 18 to 24 months to preaching the gospel. There are over 55,000 full-time missionaries all over the world. They try to meet with individuals in their homes or in the homes of local church members and share brief messages about gospel truths. These visits usually take about an hour or less.

In each visit, the missionaries invite those they meet with to come unto Christ by helping them build their faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repent, be baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and establish permanent patterns of righteous living. As such, they extend simple invitations to those with whom they meet; each invitation is designed to help them come unto Christ more fully.

Some of the topics the missionaries teach include:

• The restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ,
• God's plan for our salvation,
• The doctrine of Jesus Christ, and
• Several important commandments taught by Jesus Christ.

The missionaries will use scriptures to teach their message, including the Book of Mormon and the Bible. Upon request, you can receive a free copy of either of these books of scripture from them.

Along with referring to the scriptures, some of their other teaching methods may include asking thought-provoking questions and teaching with a member of their local congregation. They seek to avoid arguing, debating, and "Bible-bashing", as contention drives away the Holy Spirit of God.

The missionaries are always willing to provide service of all kinds. The message they share has the power to improve individuals and strengthen families.

Missionaries seek to fulfill the Savior's great commission: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19).
