Tithing is a tenth part of a person's yearly increase given to the Lord through the Church. Tithing money is used build the kingdom of God on earth.

In Genesis 14:18-20, it mentions how Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek of all he possessed. Hebrews 7:1-2 gives us a guideline as to the amount we should pay for tithing. It states that Abraham gave a tenth part of all as a tithe.
As we pay a tenth part of our earnings to the Lord, it is really a test of our faith. God promises to bless us abundantly when we pay our tithing to help build His kingdom here on earth.
In Malachi 3:10 it states, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it".
As it states in this scripture, when we pay our tithing, the Lord will pour us out such a blessing that there "shall not be room enough to receive it". Who wouldn't want that type of blessing? So, here's how it works, first we should have faith to pay tithing as soon as we earn any money. Next, it's important to pay it with a giving heart because "God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7). Finally, when we pay it, the Lord promises to bless us abundantly.
Malachi 3:8-9 asks us:
"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation."
As this scripture states, when we don't pay our tithing, we rob God. Let us pay tithing in faith and then the blessings of the Lord will come upon us.
