Is it Possible to have the Spirit Daily in our Lives?

Genesis 6:3 states, "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh".

In that scripture, the Lord tells us that we can't always have the spirit daily in our lives. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to have the Spirit daily in our lives. The next verses help us to understand why we can't have it all the time:

1 John 1:8: "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

As we sin and make choices that go against God's will, we lose the Spirit in our lives.

Romans 3:23 states, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"

Sin pulls us away from God and His spirit. However, when we repent, we can regain the Spirit back in our lives.

The Spirit in our lives vs. the Gift of the Holy Ghost

We can feel a portion of the Spirit on a regular basis, however, if we receive the "Gift of the Holy Ghost", we have the right to have the constant influence of the Spirit.

Steps to Having the Spirit Daily in our Lives

Once we have received the Gift of the Holy Ghost, here are some steps to help us have the Spirit daily in our lives:

  1. Repent when we make wrong choices
  2. Pray morning and evening and as needed during the day.
  3. Study our scriptures daily
  4. Random acts of kindness/service towards others
  5. Keep the commandments of God

Having the Lord's Spirit with us daily brings a peace that nothing else can. It helps us know that our lives are in tune with God and can help make us and instrument in His hands for the blessing of His children here on earth.
