A religious leader of our time, Harold B. Lee (former President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) said, "The most important work you will ever do is within the walls of your own home."
When people are on their deathbeds, you never hear them say, "I wish I would've spent more time at the office". A major regret of many people is that they didn't spend enough time with their families.
If we don't do our best in parenting, little else really matters. Other successes are really hollow. Many have said, "My true riches are my children and family". The scriptures say, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matthew 6:21). It is important to seek for and find balance in our lives. Sometimes we can be so caught up in things outside the home, like money, fame, social status or power, that we lose everything that is most dear to us—our families. The only things we can take with us to the next life is our family and our knowledge. All the rest stays here on earth.
