Jesus Teaches the Woman at the Well

Scripture: John 4:5-29

In this video of Jesus Christ, Jesus is talking with a Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus is thirsty and asks her for a drink. The fact that Jesus asks her for water surprises the Samaritan woman because the Jews, in those days, generally thought the Samaritans an unclean people. They would not eat food prepared by the Samaritans and they would even walk great distances so as to avoid walking through the Samaritan countryside. Needless to say, after Jesus treated the woman in such an unexpected way, the woman became interested in what Jesus had to say.

Jesus then talked about “living water” that he could give her. He told her that whoever would drink of the water that he would give, would never thirst. He explained that “the water that I shall give...shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”. The woman wanted the water but failed to understand that the water Jesus was talking about was the kind of water that replenishes our spirits and not our bodies. Nourishment that comes through keeping the commandments of God.

The commandments are found in the Bible, you can go to our Bible quiz page to test your knowledge of it.
