Why did Satan Get Kicked Out of Heaven?
Why Satan got Kicked out of Heaven
Revelation 12:7, 9 sets the stage about a war in heaven before the earth was created:
"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
The next scripture talks specifically about why Satan was kicked out (cast out) of heaven:
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."
In summary: Satan got kicked out of heaven because he was prideful and wanted the glory of God; he said, "I will exalt my throne above the stars of God" and "I will be like the most High".
This is a great lesson for all of us. Some people, even in this life, become very knowledgeable—even to the point that they think they are better or smarter than God. Instead of trying to be better than others, especially God, we should be humble and teachable. Contrary to popular belief, there is power in being humble. Being humble doesn't mean that we are submissive and weak, it means that we recognize our dependence on God and desire to submit to His will. The paradox is that being humble gives us power.
