How to Give a Prayer of Thanks

First, we shouldn't just repeat the same prayer over and over again. Prayers should be from the heart and in our own words. Jesus said, "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking" (Matthew 6:7).

Start the prayer by addressing God: Our Father in Heaven.

Tell God the many things we are sincerely thankful for. For example, "I thank thee (you) for my family", "I thank thee for helping me today at work", "I thank thee that my needs are met", or "I thank thee for the beautiful world in which I live".

End the prayer by saying, "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen".

Prayers of thanks help us come closer to God and Jesus and help us gain more faith in them and love towards them. Also, as we are thankful and count our blessings, it helps us be happier and more content with what God has given us.

Many find that they have happier lives as they off more prayers of thanks.

The Importance of a Prayer of Thanks

In Luke 17:12-19, we read of the story of the ten lepers who were healed by Jesus and how only one of them returned to him to give him thanks. Through that story, we learn of the importance of gratitude.

Scriptures on thankfulness:

In Psalms 92:1 it states, "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name..."

Colossians 3:15 reads, "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful".

Psalms 95:2 declares, "Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving".

Ephesians 1:15-16 tells us, "Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers".

A daily prayer of thanks should be part of our daily routine. It will bless our lives and help us feel happier.

An important thing we should be thankful for is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
