Jesus' Crucifixion and Incidents prior to His Resurrection
After Jesus was crucified, there was an earthquake which caused the centurion (Roman leader over 100 soldiers) to say, "Truly this was the Son of God" (Matthew 27:54). Then Joseph of Arimathea, a rich man and a disciple of Jesus asked Pilate for the body of Jesus (Matthew 27:58). He and Nicodemus then took the body of Jesus and laid it in the sepulcher.
Resurrection of Jesus
The body of Jesus then laid in the sepulcher for 3 days. After three days, one of the greatest miracles in the history of the world happened—the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In death, our bodies and spirits are separated. The spirit goes to the spirit world and the body is left lifeless. The resurrection is the reuniting of the spirit and the body. Jesus was the first to be resurrected. Because he overcame death, the rest of us can also be resurrected.
Post-Resurrection Appearances of Jesus
Next, Jesus walked with two men on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-33).
Following that appearance, the Lord appeared to Simon Peter (Luke 24:34).
Luke 20:29 talks about when Thomas saw the Savior. (This is where the term "doubting Thomas" came from.)
In John, Chapter 21, Jesus appeared to Peter James and John while they were fishing and made them a meal. Then Jesus asked Peter, who had previously denied Him three times, if he loved Him. Peter told Him three times that he loved Him and He told Peter three times to "Feed my Lambs/Sheep."
