A covenant is a two-way promise between a person and God. A covenant marriage constitutes a three way agreement between the couple and God.
The Bible teaches us that, "Neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 11:11).
If the Bible teaches us that, can a covenant marriage last longer than is promised in marriage ceremonies ("until death do you part")?
Does a covenant marriage simply last until death and then end for eternity leaving man and wife alone forever in heaven? If so, what a sad and lonely existence that would be.
Fortunately, God has provided a way for a covenant marriage to be for time (on earth) and for all eternity. If a couple is sealed in a temple of God by the proper authority (meaning the priesthood of God), and if the couple fulfills their end of the covenant by living faithful lives and repenting of their sins, they have the promise of living together with God in heaven for eternity—not just "until death do you part".
