Tithing Facts

As seen from the scriptures above, God has tithed his people from the days of Abraham. Tithing was adopted by the early Christian church. Tithing has continued in modern times in the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church especially in Austria and Hungary. In other places, it has been replaced by other systems to voluntarily support the clergy. (Source: Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia.)

Tithing Facts from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons), the commandment of tithing is followed. The tithes of the members help build churches and temples. Most members of the church pay tithes because they love God and want to keep His commandments. Members receive blessings from paying tithing—as mentioned in Malachi 3:8-11 (above).
