Omnipotent means having limitless power, authority or strength.
Who is Omnipotent?
Although some humans may think they are omnipotent, God and Jesus Christ are the only beings who are omnipotent and have "all power". They were able to create the earth because they are omnipotent (all powerful). Hebrews 1:2 declares, "…hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds".
Here's the paradox: God is omnipotent, yet He gives us our "agency" or "free will". We have the power to make choices in our lives. God does not force us one way or the other. We make choices and reap the consequences—good or bad—for the decisions we make. (Read more on the meaning of life.)
Is the Devil Omnipotent?
No, only God and Christ are omnipotent. Satan, otherwise known as the devil, has power only as we give it to him by wrong choices we make as we yield to temptation. Because God is omnipotent, He has power over the devil and will triumph in the end.
Since God is Omnipotent, is He Loving, Strict or Mean?
Psalms 145:8-9 answers that question, "The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works."
Even though God is omnipotent, He loves us, cares for us and wants us to succeed in life.
