Mary Visits Elizabeth Before the Birth of Jesus and John

When Elizabeth was six months pregnant with John the baptist, and Mary was pregnant with Jesus, Mary went to visit Elizabeth her cousin. As Mary greeted Elizabeth, John lept for joy while in the womb of Elizabeth.

Then, Elizabeth, full of the Spirit of God, said to Mary, “Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”

Then, Mary filled with the spirit of prophecy, said some of the most powerful words spoken in scripture. Her inspired words were recorded and have been put to music and have been called, by many religions, “The Magnificat”. Here are a few lines from Mary’s inspired words, “My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
